Uptown Theater tickets & upcoming events

Looking for a spot that’s got history, character, and a little bit of Rhode Island charm? The Uptown Theater in Providence is just that place. This old-school cinema has been a local favorite for ages, hosting everything from the debut of the animated hit Moana back in 2016, complete with a surprise cameo from Dwayne Johnson, to screenings of award-winning documentaries during the 2020 regional film showcase. It was one of the first venues in the state to live stream a major music awards show in 2015, drawing a massive online crowd and proving it’s got the tech chops too. If you’re into the vibe, the central seats right in the middle of the theater give you a perfect, unobstructed view of the screen, but heads up, those in the lower balcony are closer to the action, though sometimes the sightlines can be a bit tricky depending on where you sit. And hey, if you’re just wandering around from the government building, start heading south on Smith Street and use the coordinates 41.8265° N, 71.4020° W to find it easily. Whether you’re catching a concert, a comedy show, or a classic film, the Uptown Theater is where you want to be for a good time, great memories, and maybe even a little nostalgia. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the magic that happens here.
